Rick Davis & Associates, LLC (formally REMCO) was founded in 2001 as an Energy Management firm. We saw the growing need for managing a business’ electrical usage in order to reduce their overall costs and to increase their bottom line. We spent the first six months looking at several different lines of equipment that could support our customer’s needs.
After a series of tests and evaluations, we decided to partner with Dencor as our manufacturer. Dencor products have been in the market place since the mid 70’s. In fact, I have actually been to a location that was still using a Dencor energy management system that was installed in 1978. The products that they produce are near bullet proof. They are so well designed and manufactured that they each come with a full 10 year warranty.
In 2001 we installed our first Dencor Energy Management System (EMS) in Newport News, VA. It is still in use today. Our initial target market was the convenience/grocery store and fast food market. Since 2001, we have grown the business throughout the mid Atlantic region serving hundreds of commercial accounts.
In 2006, we decided to move forward into the residential market place as a significant part of our business model. We have been installing residential systems from the start, but we were just focusing our efforts towards the commercial side. Still using Dencor as our base equipment provider, we have installed many residential systems throughout the Tidewater area of Virginia as well as the greater Richmond, Virginia area.
One issue that we had was that the name used for the equipment was, well, not very marketable (200D???). In 2008 we were able to rename and private label the Dencor equipment as “The Energy Genie”. We now have three lines of Energy Genie products.
The first is The Energy Genie BASIC. This is a small residential package designed for those customers who bill around $140 dollars or less per month. The next level is The Energy Genie PREMIER. This configuration is set-up for those homes that bill $140 and higher per month. Then we also have The Energy Genie PRO which is used for all of our commercial applications.
Rick Davis & Associates, LLC offers several different energy management levels as well as our loss control and risk management business. We view them as a combined suite of offerings that are tied together at the hip. We can save you money by managing your electrical usage, but we can also save you money (and liability) by identifying problems or potential problems in your facility or home, thereby preventing failures and potential downtime. In 2007 we started using the Fluke Thermal Imaging camera systems. In the hands of our certified Thermographers, we can identify problem areas that are not seen with the naked eye. By doing so we can pinpoint where repairs need to be conducted or prevent future catastrophic failures that could result in loss of production or, in a worst case, lives.
